Will of Joseph Day;
I Joseph Day of Wells, being weak in body, devises, 17 May 1782;  To my wi fe
Elizabeth all of the household goods, ½  my homestead + ½ a lot of fre sh
meadow adj. to the mill privy of my saw mill on the North Branch of t he
Little River at her disposal, + my riding horse, a cow, and three shee p;   
To my sons, John and Moses Wentworth, five acres of marsh on the Mou sam
River, equally divided;  To my son Joseph Day, a small lot adj.  the w est
side of the mill pond on the branch aforesaid plus 15/;  To my son Ben jamin
Day, my common right lot;  To my son Henry Day, a 44 acre lot adj. t he East
side of the aforesaid mill pond;  To my son Robert Day, 1 /3 of my right in
the saw mill on the North branch of Little Rive r;   To my daughters, Lucy
Gray, and Hannah Shackford, L4 L.M. eac h;  To my grand children, Josiah 
Norton and Betty Norton, 5/ eac h;  To my son Moses Wentworth Day, ½ my home
place + half ½ the fresh mead ow adj,  the above mill privy. and + my stock,
husbandry tools and other e st. not disposed of.   Const. sons John, Joseph,
Moses Wentworth Day Execu tors.

In the name of God amen.  To all persons to whom it may concern know ye th at
I Benjamin Day of Alfred in the county of York yeoman though not far ad vanced
in age yet being sick, and knowing that all men are mortal and h ow soon or
suddenly my life may be expired I know not, I commend my spir it to the mercy
of God thro' Jesus the mediator, and my body to the ha nd of my executor
hereafter mentioned, to be by her decently interre d, in full belief of the
resurrection thereof by the mighty power of Go d.  And I dispose of the
temporal estate wherewith the Lord has bless'd m e, in the following manner
that is to say in the first place it is my wi ll that all my just debts and
funeral charges by paid by my executor herea fter named.
2d I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lucy Day all my personal esta te of
every kind: the bequeathment to hold said personal estate foreve r.  And I
also give & bequeath to her the said Lucy Day, all my real esta te during her
life and when it shall please all-mighty God to remove her o ut of time by
death, my real estate shall become the property of my son Jo seph Day to have
and to hold forever.
3d I give & bequeath to my daughter Betty Day, one dollar & twenty five ce
nts.
4th I give to my daughter Phebe Day, one dollar & twenty five cents.
5th I give to my daughter Sally, one dollar & twenty five cents.
6th I give to my daughter Hannah, one dollar & twenty five cents.
7th I give to my daughter Mehitable, one dollar & twenty five cents.
And I do hereby constitute and appoint my said wife the sole executor of t his
my will, and finally revoking all other wills & testaments which may h ave
heretofore been by me made, I do declare the same to be void and do pr onounce
and declare this to be my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the twenty s ix
day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred a nd four.
